✨ Happy New Year! ✨
You are here, now, and I celebrate you!
First of all, if you woke up on January 2 telling yourself a story about how it’s too late for you to set intentions for the year and you’re already behind — STOP! (In the name of love.) You are right where you need to be, there is no rush to set your intentions for 2024, and you can take all the time you need. Okay, now that that’s out of the way and we can all relax…
I love January. I am so excited my cherished Quiet Month has officially begun.
This year I’m taking a slow roll into reflecting on the old and welcoming the new. I’m not jumping into any goals or resolutions. I’ve been reading in bed a lot and savoring my friends.
But if there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I will be doing some deep soul-searching and hours of journaling to realign with my higher self and call in success and abundance in the New Year!!! I deeply believe in the power of intention, and though New Year’s Day is just another date on the calendar, January does have a mysterious pull that can help us reset our daily lives and create space for real change.
Change is possible, I am living proof, and I invite you to allow yourself to dream about what 2024 could bring. Just as you can imagine the worst, why not imagine the best? Each scenario only exists within your mind, so why not choose to fill your inner sanctum with fantasies fulfilled, wishes granted, and dreams manifested?

Before we move on to my list of tools and resources, I want to talk a bit about a topic in the zeitgeist: abstention from alcohol.
Last year at this time, I shared that a highlight of 2022 was the six months I spent sober.
I know many people are embarking on Dry January and contemplating their relationship with substances, so here’s a little update on where I stand now.
Though I drank socially throughout 2023, I did not have a single hangover. The last time I was hungover was Dec. 10, 2022, after a holiday bar crawl.
Hangovers were a huge reason I decided to commit to a long stint of sobriety. I was wasting 4+ days a month feeling sick in bed, abandoning myself in exchange for the escape/regret cycle of heavy drinking. I was OVER it. I still am. I will never again hand over so many of my precious waking hours to alcohol’s empty promises.
I have genuinely changed my relationship with alcohol, my consciousness and behavioral patterns around it, and how I allow it to influence my life. I’m proud of myself. (By the way, getting here took years, so it’s totally fine to come at this from wherever you’re at in the process.)
If you’re considering taking a break from alcohol, I highly encourage you to do so, if for no other reason than to try something different. Ruby Warrington’s book Sober Curious as well as her workbook, The Sober Curious Reset: Change the Way You Drink in 100 Days or Less, are great places to start.
For some of us, real movement away from alcohol’s sleep-ruining, time-wasting, intimacy-stealing clutches and toward more personal freedom is possible. For others, total abstinence is the only way, and I support you in that endeavor as well.
I’ve gathered a list of resources and tools from some of my favorite creatives to help you move into 2024 with intention.
Take what you need and leave the rest. Make it work for you. Take stock of 2023, then let that shit go. Let your heart and imagination run wild, and open your arms to 2024. Here we go.
How I’m welcoming 2024 with intention
I’m working through Susannah Conway’s free Unravel Your Year workbook—slowly! I switched over to this workbook this year and I’m really enjoying the process so far—it’s a more feminine, woo experience than Year Compass (in the further resources below), which I adore.
Doing a New Year tarot spread and journaling on the messages I find in the cards. I usually do the Celtic Cross spread, and Biddy Tarot’s New Year spread and Labyrinthos’ spread are great options too. For those who want to keep it simple, you could just pull three cards representing your past, present, and future.
I wrote down the highlight of my week every Sunday in 2023, and I’m so excited to go through them this week! I enjoy this practice of savoring sweet moments and will continue it in 2024.

Fill out the Year Compass workbook. I filled this baby out for a few years in a row. When you complete a resource like this year after year, you see just how much you’ve accomplished, as well as the pain points you keep carrying with you. I highly recommend it.
Susannah Conway’s Find Your Word free ebook. It can be powerful to have a single word to look to for guidance throughout the year.
Align your priorities with Fran Hauser’s Four-Square Model. She calls this her boundary-setting tool, and it’s great for people who feel overwhelmed by life’s responsibilities, or who only have a half hour to dedicate to New Year intention setting.

I'm so honored to be included in such an impressive lineup. Lots of lovely thoughts here, especially resistance to the knee-jerk "fear of being behind already" reaction to this week so many of us get sucked into. Thank you for all of this, as well as the idea of a quiet January. Yes, please.
