Today, I’m excited to relaunch my updated and improved list of 142 tools and resources for freelancers. Get it for FREE at my website.

The list includes the useful websites, job boards, tips, courses, newsletters, podcasts, books and much more that I’ve been collecting for 13+ years as a writer, editor, podcaster, and businesswoman. Inside, you’ll find links for writing, pitching, freelancing, podcasting, design, finances, interviewing, productivity, creating a business — and everything else you may need for your creative path.

This is one way for me to share the wealth of knowledge I’ve gained so far in my career, and give back to burgeoning freelancers. All of these people and resources have helped me along the way, and there was once a time when I never knew any of them existed — and I’ve learned from countless helpful creatives who’ve shared their own tips and tools over the years.

   Chrome extension to easily save all your tabs

3. Unroll.me

   “Rolls up” your emails into one email you receive at a chosen time of day. Saves my inbox. (Be aware they sell your data.)

4. Novo

   Business checking account recommendation. No-fee checking and ATM

5. Otter

   Record interviews and transcribe audio. I’ve used this for years, and it’s about 85% correct.

6. Descript

   All-in-one editor. I use this to edit my podcast episodes because it’s super intuitive for writers; you edit audio/video by editing text.

7. Unsplash

   Free, high-quality images

8. Canva

   A design suite to help create any kind of graphic. Has a great free version.

9. Study Hall

   Community for freelancers and media workers with a Slack, listserv, weekly opportunities newsletter, and helpful docs to find editors’ contacts and pitch opportunities.

10. Freelance Pitching Board (Sheets) by

    Anna Goldfarb

    I use a customized version of this every day. Make your own copy.

11. The Monday Monday newsletter by Cody Cook-Parrot, and their highly valuable library of books, resources, and courses. I’ve learned more from Cody than any other creator over the past 18 months.

12. Amber Petty
    ’s newsletter

    I’ve been a member of her excellent Pitching Hour. Her (free and paid) classes are so high-value.

13. Freelance Journalism Jobs newsletter by Abigail Bassett
